# How to move your Gemini memory, Gems and scheduled actions to Turnstone (2026)

**The easiest way to export your Gemini memory, Gems and scheduled actions is to let Gemini do it. Add Turnstone to Gemini as a custom app, then ask Gemini to recreate each Gem as a Turnstone Agent and send it everything it knows about you.**

You don't have to stop using Gemini to do this. We make Turnstone, a free, model-agnostic app that runs a team of AI Agents, and Gemini is one of the AIs it runs on. So you're bringing your Gemini setup with you, not leaving it behind. The timing matters too. Google says personal Gems become read-only on November 17, 2026 and are removed on December 17, 2026, as they turn into Skills. Everything was checked on October 28, 2026. Gemini's menus move often, so if a name below doesn't match your screen, look for the closest one.

## What does Gemini keep about you?

Gemini spreads your context across a few places. Our guide to [AI agent memory](https://myturnstone.ai/blog/ai-agent-memory) explains the different kinds in more detail.

| In Gemini | What it is | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | What Gemini learns about you from your chats. Google renamed "past chats" to "memories" in March 2026 | Settings, then Personal Intelligence, then Memory summary. Or ask "What do you know about me?" |
| Instructions for Gemini | Rules and facts you add yourself. Older screens call it Saved info | Settings, then Personal Intelligence, then Instructions for Gemini |
| Personal Intelligence | The opt-in that ties memory, instructions and your connected Google apps together | Settings, then Personal Intelligence |
| Gems | Custom versions of Gemini with their own instructions and files | Gems in the sidebar. Turning into Skills from November 17 |
| Skills | Reusable instructions, the replacement for Gems | Customize, then Skills |
| Scheduled actions | Prompts in a normal chat that run on a schedule. Up to 10 active | The Scheduled page in the sidebar |
| Tasks in Gemini (formerly Spark) | Gemini's agent mode, with its own schedules. Up to 50 active | The Scheduled page, grouped by Active, Paused and Completed |

Google's Memory summary page lets you view and edit what Gemini knows, but lists no export button. So the reliable way out is to ask Gemini to write it all down.

## How do I move my Gemini setup to Turnstone?

Turnstone has a hosted MCP server, a standard way for one AI app to use another app's tools. Gemini adds MCP servers as "custom apps." Turnstone's sign-in uses dynamic client registration, the path Google's help page describes.

Custom apps aren't on every account yet. Google lists these conditions: a personal Google Account (not a work or school one), Keep Activity turned on, and being 18 or over. You can only add a custom app in the Gemini web app, though it then works on mobile too.

1. **Install Turnstone on your Mac** and pick the AI your Agents will use. Gemini is one option, along with ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Cursor, OpenRouter, Ollama and your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key.
2. **Copy your MCP link.** In Turnstone, open Settings, then MCP and webhooks, and click Copy MCP link.
3. **Open Connected Apps in Gemini.** On a computer, go to gemini.google.com. Click Settings (Settings & help on some screens), then Connected Apps. If you don't see it, click Personal Intelligence first.
4. **Add a custom app.** Under Custom apps, find "Add a custom app link to get started," or click Add a custom app if you already have one. The label varies, for example "Custom apps for Spark."
5. **Paste the link and click Next.** Follow the prompts on screen.
6. **Sign in and allow access.** Use the same Turnstone account that's signed in on your Mac.
7. **Start a new chat and pick Turnstone.** Type @ and choose Turnstone so Gemini uses it for that prompt. Then paste the prompt below.
8. **Confirm each step.** Google's page says Gemini "requires manual confirmation for any write actions." So expect Gemini to ask before it creates each Agent or sends each message.
9. **Check each Agent.** Each new Agent shows up in Turnstone with its name and job, and its first message shows where the work came from. Read what it got, correct its memory, reconnect its apps and pick its model.

Keep Turnstone open and signed in on your Mac while Gemini sends the work. Your Agents run there.

Here's a prompt you can paste:

```
Using the Turnstone connector, move my Gemini setup into Turnstone.
For each Gem and Skill I use, create a Turnstone Agent with a clear name
and a one-paragraph job. Then send that Agent one message with everything
it needs: its full instructions, everything you remember about me that
matters for it, key facts and decisions from our past chats, a summary of
any files it relies on, and any scheduled actions or task schedules
connected to it, with their timing and what they do, so it can set them up
as Schedules. Also create one Agent called "About me" and send it
everything in my Memory summary and my Instructions for Gemini. Write it
all out in full, don't summarize away details. Tell me when every Agent
has its message.
```

### What if Gemini can't see a Gem or a schedule?

Turnstone only gets what Gemini writes out. If Gemini can't read a Gem's instructions from a normal chat, open the Gem, click Edit, copy its instructions into the chat and ask Gemini to send them to that Gem's Agent. Do the same with schedules. Open the Scheduled page, copy each one's prompt and timing, and paste them in.

## What moves and what doesn't?

| In Gemini | In Turnstone |
|---|---|
| A Gem or Skill | An Agent, with a name, a short job and its own model |
| Gem instructions | Sent in full in the Agent's first message |
| Memory summary and Instructions for Gemini | Sent to an "About me" Agent and saved in one shared memory of your people, projects and decisions. It's stored as plain files on your Mac that you can open and correct |
| Gem knowledge files | Summarized in the message. The files themselves don't move, so download them |
| Scheduled actions and task schedules | Sent with their timing, and set up as Schedules |
| Connected Google apps | 60+ apps built in, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, Outlook, Slack and Notion, plus any website and the apps on your Mac. You sign in again |
| Gemini models only | Gemini plus ChatGPT, Claude, Grok and more, picked per Agent |
| Gemini asks you to confirm write actions | Agents write and send email, Slack messages and iMessages from your own accounts |

Logins and app connections never move, in any tool. You connect your apps again in Turnstone.

## How do I save my Gems before they go away?

Google says it will "automatically transition your Gems, along with any supported files, to skills for you." Not every file makes it. Skills have a 100 MB total limit, and Google removes the largest files first to fit. GitHub files, audio, video, older Office files (.doc, .xls, .ppt) and archives like .zip don't carry over. You can download your Gem files before December 17, 2026.

To keep a full copy:

1. **Download each Gem's files.** Open the Gem, click Edit, click each file and download it. Save them in a folder on your Mac, and tell the Agent where they are.
2. **Export with Google Takeout.** Google's help page says to check "Gemini" for your Gems data. For your chats, check My Activity, then pick only "Gemini Apps."
3. **Copy each Gem's instructions into a doc.** Takeout is a backup. Turnstone doesn't read it.

## What if my account can't add a custom app?

Use the manual way. Ask Gemini to write everything out, then paste it into a chat with a Turnstone Agent.

```
Write out, in plain text: everything in my Memory summary, all my
Instructions for Gemini, and the full instructions of every Gem and Skill
I use. List every scheduled action and task schedule with its timing and
what it does. Don't summarize away details.
```

In Turnstone, create an Agent for each Gem, paste in its part and ask it to set up its Schedules. Paste the memory part into one Agent and ask it to save it. Our [Grok Bot guide](https://myturnstone.ai/blog/switch-from-grok-bot) uses the same idea, and the [main moving guide](https://myturnstone.ai/blog/move-your-ai-to-turnstone) covers every app.

## Do I have to stop using Gemini?

No. Gemini is one of the AIs Turnstone runs on, so your new Agents can keep using it. Each Agent can also use a different model. How Gemini access works outside Google's apps is a bit different from ChatGPT and Claude. Our guide to [using your subscription in other apps](https://myturnstone.ai/blog/use-chatgpt-claude-gemini-grok-subscription-in-other-apps) explains it.

Gemini does some things better. Tasks in Gemini runs on Google's cloud, so its schedules keep going with your devices off. It works natively inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Photos, and it can start work when a matching email arrives. Turnstone runs on your Mac today. Turnstone Cloud, the iPhone app and the web app are coming soon. Our [Turnstone vs Gemini Spark](https://myturnstone.ai/comparisons/gemini-spark) page goes through every difference, and the [facts page](https://myturnstone.ai/facts) lists the basics.

## Questions

**How do I export my Gemini memory?**
Google's Memory summary page lists no export button. Ask Gemini "What do you know about me?" and ask it to write everything out. With Turnstone connected, Gemini can send it straight to an Agent.

**What happens to my Gems on November 17?**
Google says personal Gems become read-only and turn into Skills. You can still open them, but you can't use or edit them. On December 17, 2026 they're removed, along with any files that didn't transfer.

**Where do I add Turnstone in Gemini?**
On gemini.google.com, open Settings, then Connected Apps, then add a custom app and paste your Turnstone MCP link. It's not on every account yet. Google lists a personal Google Account, Keep Activity on, and being 18 or over.

**Can I move Gemini's scheduled actions?**
Yes, as text. Gemini sends each schedule's timing and prompt to the right Agent, which sets it up as a Schedule. Pause the old ones once the new ones work.

**Does Google Takeout export my Gems?**
Google says the "Gemini" box in Takeout includes your Gems data, and "Gemini Apps" under My Activity includes your chats. Download Gem files separately to be safe.

**Is there a Gemini alternative with memory I can see?**
In Turnstone, every Agent shares one memory of your people, projects and decisions. It's stored as plain files on your Mac that you can open and correct. Gemini's Memory summary is editable too, through prompts.

**Can I keep using Gemini after I move?**
Yes. Gemini is one of the AI options in Turnstone, alongside ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Cursor, OpenRouter, Ollama and your own API key. You pick the model for each Agent.
